Timpany Walton has pleasure in announcing changes to
our partnership and associates
Timpany Walton has pleasure in announcing the appointment of Maarten Dirkzwager to Partner, Michelle Broadhurst and Charlotte Clifford to Associate.
The future of Timpany Walton has been confirmed as a leading legal firm in South Canterbury with the promotion of three solicitors to more senior positions within the Firm. Maarten Dirkzwager has been promoted from Associate to Partner in the firm while both Charlotte Clifford and Michelle Broadhurst have been made Associates within the firm.
``It is great for Timpany Walton and for South Canterbury that we can attract and retain young professional people like Maarten, Charlotte and Michelle,'' said Timpany Walton partner Tony Shaw. ``So often we see well educated young people leave the district, so it's great that we're attracting Timaru people back to the town and retaining them in the area.
From Timpany Walton's perspective it's a recognition that these three are able young lawyers whom we see as the future of the firm".
Maarten Dirkzwager (33) grew up in Timaru. After graduating from the University of Canterbury in 2000 with a first class Honours degree in law he worked and traveled in Europe before returning to Timaru in 2004 to work at Timpany Walton. He was appointed as an Associate in 2008 and became a partner in 2010. He practices in commercial law, property and employment law, trust, estate and asset planning, civil litigation and dispute resolution.
People throughout the district are likely to know him from the soccer fields as a player for Northern Hearts.
His other interests include tramping, hunting and walking the dog.
Charlotte Clifford (32) grew up in Timaru and was admitted to the bar in 2000. Before joining Timpany Walton in 2006 she worked in Central Otago, gaining experience in general legal practice. Her areas of expertise cover the full spectrum of family law including care of children, relationship property and domestic violence as well as criminal law, civil litigation and employment law. She says doing Lawyer for Child work is both challenging and rewarding. While she enjoys water and snow sports and the arts, these have taken second place to her family life. She has two young children, with another expected later this year, and is on the Board of Trustees at the pre-school centre Creative Corner.
Michelle Broadhurst (31) joined the firm in 2004 and specialises in conveyancing, commercial law and estate administration. Originally from Marlborough, she has found Timaru to be a welcoming community where she has made good friends. Netball is one of her great enthusiasms outside of work. She is a member of the competitions committee for South Canterbury Netball. When she is not chasing a ball around the court she is planning her next travel excursion.
