Timpany Walton Battle it out in the Corpor8 Rowing Champs
Corpor8 fundraising event for the Timaru Rowing Club
On Sunday the 22nd of November the crew of Timpany Walton(The Oarsome Legal Team) novices took to the water at Lake Opuha for the Corpor8 regatta. After a six week training stint the crew pulled off a second and first in the heats to take them straight through to the final, avoiding any repachages . The battle for 1st place was intense during the final race and 600m later the crew finished in 2nd position just three seconds behind the winning crew from Performance Training/Hastings McLeod.
Congratulations to all who entered. Crew and supporters for Timpany Walton thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Timaru Rowing Club said is was a successful time on the water last Sunday.
"It was great to see everyone there working and rowing together as a team and also enjoying themselves socially – the tents, balloons, tee shirts and brilliant corporate support all combined together looked fantastic.
'Corpor8' rowing has been a worthwhile fundraising venture for the club – money raised will be put towards equipment/plant replacement. This is the first time that we have run an event like this and we are grateful to Belinda and Dan Kelly for their initial idea and vision for Timaru Rowing Club to give Corpor8 rowing a go and then for the guidance & support they provided us towards getting the inaugural regatta off the ground."
